Because Space Wolves are most effective when they are close and personal, they have to be get there as fast as possible. One of the ways is the trusty old Rhino Transport. For that reason I field a Rhino (the only one I have), loaded with the bloodclaws pack. Alhtough its survivability on the field is limited, if it is moved at cruising speed for one round and pop smoke then it can deploy the troops it carries in the next round. I sometimes use it screened by a Land Raider and it also works.
The model below was the first 40k vehicle I made, so there are some blemishes due to extensive painting experimentation. Hopefully my next vehicles will be much better!

As every Wolf that respects himself, I also field a pack of 5 Wolf scouts. These guys excel in suicide missions behind enemy lines. It's a wonderfull feeling watching the face of your enemy, when these guys appear from his deployment side, to destroy as many support and heavy units they can, before they meet a glorious death! For that reason, they pack some serious firepower. 2 plasma pistols, 1 meltagun, 1 power weapon, bolt pistols and close combat weapons, not to forget the meltabombs for that extra punch.
They are led by a Wolf Guard Pack leader, equiped with a bolter and a power fist, just to be sure that the armour of that tank will be cracked!
In general, Wolf Scouts are one of the most point effective units in the Space Wolves army, but they must be used wisely in terms of target priority. Their only disadvantage lies with lady luck, as due to the deep strike rules and a bad roll of dice, they can arive too late in the game, with their tactical role severely affected.

The wisdom of the ancients is always respected, so one of my headquarters is a Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought. With WS and BS of 5, a SW Vennie is a very good choice for both support and close combat. Its current setup is a twin-linked lascannon and missile launcher.
I have also assembled an assault cannon and flamer close combat weapon. The close combat setup is for use with a drop pod, which will place the dreadnought inside enemy lines, where he can cause the havoc this deathdealing machine was meant to. This setup is in WIP status, with the DCCW flamer being primed and the assault cannon just assembled.
Behold the ancient!

My Blood Claws pack is tooled up for some close combat where these furious young wolves excel! They are equiped with a flamer, two power weapons, a power fist, bolt pistols and chainswords.
And because of their attitude to prove themselves to older wolves, they have to be in check by a Rune Priest. He is equiped with a frost blade and a bolt pistol. In the future I will probably use a Wolf Priest because it seems like a better option point wise, but until the Wolf Priest project is complete, he will lead the claws.

Welcome to the Space Wolves Grey Blog. As the name implies it is a Blog dedicated to the Space Marines Chapter of the Space Wolves.
I started my army about a year ago, but the progress has not been the best. However in the last 4 months, I became more dedicated and I can now show about 1000 to 1500 points worth of models. Of course their condition varies from finished to just primed, so there's plenty of WIP updates to come.
As a new Blood Claw to the greater pack of Space Wolves players, I am trying to find a good army list and tactics. So there will also be posts about army lists that I've came up with and maybe some battle reports from my local gaming club.
I invite everyone to see this blog as a Fenrisian Long Hall where all can exchange their stories about heroic deeds, hear the opinions and teachings of the elders and of course help themselves to roast meat and some strong Fenrisian Ale!!!
